Chabad Lubavitch and Rabbi Shlomo Amar lighting the first Chanukkah candle at Zion Square / Jerusalem

Every Chanukkah anew, Chabad Lubavitch is setting up Chanukkiyot (Chanukkah Menorot) in numerous parts of the world. The same in Jerusalem and every evening throughout Chanukkah, there are public events in downtown Jerusalem as well as at Jaffa Gate. After lighting the candle, Chabad usually gives out a couple of free sufganiyot (donuts) and yesterday, I was among the lucky ones. I grabbed a sufganiya and it was still warm. πŸ™‚
Every evening, a different public Jerusalem figure is lighting the candles and last night it was the new Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem and former Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Amar. Tonight it will be Knesset Member Eli Yishai who just left the Shass party and founded his own Maran movement. So, we will see how he behaves. I have seen him lighting before a few years ago and I found him rather arrogant. Maybe this will change tonight because he needs is in the middle of an election campaign. πŸ™‚
Here are a couple of photos and the first video upload:
