It is really hot again in Jerusalem. 35 degrees Celsius today and, starting tomorrow, it is supposed to “cool down” to 32 degrees Celsius. Tisha be’Av is not an easy fast due to the summer heat. 🙂
However, I don’t envy all the Jews living in the Diaspora because there is no such special Tisha be’Av atmosphere as in Jerusalem. Thousands of people will be praying at the Kotel (Western Wall). Right there where everything happened 2000 and even more years ago. We still see the ruins of the Second Temple and, believe it or not, we are able to walk along the former shopping street in front of the Temple. It is not a shopping street anymore but you can see the remaining walls of the former shops. Where Jews were selling animals which were sacrificed in the Tempel (Korbanot).
Tomorrow after Shabbat is over, thousands of Jews are making their way to the Kotel. Some even carry mattresses in order to sleep in front of the Western Wall.
Despite all the mourning, have a great Shabbat.
Shabbat Shalom & Git Schabbes !!!
