It is not the first time that Palestinians set a Synagogue and a Torah scroll on fire:
I remember when I was in Yeshiva, we were told to go to a Torah exhibition taking place at Zion Square in Jerusalem. This was in the 1990s and, as far as I remember, the burnt Torah scrolls were from Kever Yosef in Shechem. Whatever was left of the Torah parchment was exhibited and, later on, buried.
Just imagine what would happen if Jews started burning Mosques and the Koran. The whole world would be screaming and calling for more sanctions on Israel. But here we have another burnt Torah scroll and the world couldn’t care less.
