The Beit Midrash of Chassidut Erloi (Erlau) in Jerusalem

The Erloier Rebbe, a direct descendant of the Chatam Sofer, passed away a few weeks ago. Many people wonder why he decided to set up his Beit Midrash and chassidic center in the middle of the Katamon neighbourhood. A rather national religious and secular part of Jerusalem.
I heard that the Erloier Rebbe did this on purpose and was thus the only chassidic Rebbe whose center is not located in a stricly haredi neighbourhood.
Most of the Chassidim live in and around Old Katamon.

  1. On 5 Adar II 5749, He came to visit the Rebbe during Dollars. In the course of the meeting, the Rebbe urged him to issue a rabbinic ruling that the world cannot proceed without Moshiach. The Rebbe told him that faced with this ruling, the Heavenly Court would be forced to comply.

Rabbi Sofer responded that the Rebbe had already issued such a ruling, and Hashem would surely bring the redemption very soon. To this the Rebbe replied that this is not something that can be left up to any single person; all of us need Moshiach, and so, all of us must do our part in bringing him.
