Rabbi Yitzchak Breitowitz / Tisha be'Av

Tisha be’Av has begun

Jerusalem has been preparing for tonight’s and tomorrow’s Tisha be’Av (9th Av). Especially the police forces.
Thousands of Jews are going to the Kotel (Western Wall) this evening and tomorrow before the fast is supposed to end. Lots of people are carrying mattresses while going to the Kotel tonight. The reason is that they intend to sleep at the Kotel Plaza.
Many Jews sit on the ground in front of the Kotel and read Kinot. Mattresses are being spread out and people stay there and mourn. Tisha be’Av in Jerusalem is truly special and nowhere in the world is such a great atmosphere as right in front of the Temple Mount.
However, Tisha be’Av is not only a day of mourning for the two Temples but we also remember what we still don’t have: The arrival of Meshiach.
What is going on in Jerusalem tonight and tomorrow:
Let us just hope that the Arabs won’t freak out again!
