The two holes in the Beit HaMikdash

Jerusalem, Archaeological Park next to the Kotel (Western Wall): A former “shopping mall” below the former Second Temple area. A street where, for instance, Rabbi Akivah used to walk on. On the right, you can see the stones from the Second Temple which were thrown down during the Temple’s destruction by the Romans.

At the same spot (see above picture) we see two strange holes in the corner wall.

The Arabs claim that when their Prophet Mohammad came to Jerusalem, he bound his horse where those holes are. Either he made the holes are they just appeared due to a miracle.
Well, first of all, there is no proof that Mohammad ever entered Jerusalem. As a matter of fact, the entire Koran doesn’t mention JERUSALEM even once.
Although I know that this Muslim legend is false I would be interested if anyone of you has an idea of the real origin of those holes.
